A plain-English look at what information MattyG collects on this site, why, and what we do with it. No dense legalese.
Who we are
This site is run by MattyG (also known as MattyG Marketing), a marketing consultancy based in Orange County, California. We work with clients in the United States.

What information we collect
It depends on how you use the site:
- Lead form / chat: name and email; optional company and message; chat answers such as budget, need, timeline, a short business description, and why it matters to you; your confirmation that you’re 18 or older; and whether you ticked the optional box to get marketing emails.
- Traffic context: where you came from (UTM tags, referrer) and the time you submitted.
- Browsing: if you accept cookies, pages you visit and approximate location/device via analytics (see below). We don’t ask for a street address on this site.
How we get it
Most of it comes from you — you type it into the chat or form. Some technical and source details (referrer, UTM parameters, submission time) are captured automatically when you submit. Analytics data is collected by Google Analytics as you browse, but only after you click “Accept cookies.”
Why we use it
We use this information to:
- Respond to inquiries and follow up when you’ve asked us to
- Send occasional marketing emails, only if you ticked the optional marketing box (unsubscribe anytime by replying or emailing us)
- Understand whether a project is a good fit
- Improve the site and how people find it
Where it goes
Form submissions are stored with Netlify Forms (our host) and emailed to the site owner. We don’t sell your personal information.
Client portal
There’s a code-gated private area for clients. Access codes are checked on our server (a Netlify Function), not in your browser. We may record that portal access happened (for security and operations). That doesn’t mean we’re collecting extra personal details beyond what’s needed to keep the area working.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-JCP7GJTHVE), and it only loads if you click “Accept cookies” on the cookie notice. If you reject, Google Analytics is never loaded. It helps us see which pages people visit, approximate location and device type, and events like starting a chat. Google Analytics uses cookies (such as _ga).
Cookies and local storage
In plain words:
- Google Analytics cookies — help us understand site traffic. Set only after you accept cookies.
- Your cookie choice: saved in local storage so we don’t ask again on every visit.
- sessionStorage for the portal — holds a short-lived, signed session token after you unlock the client portal so you don’t have to re-enter your code on every page load. It is cleared when you close the tab or click Lock.
- sessionStorage for the visit source: remembers the page and referrer your visit started from (for example, UTM tags), so a chat sent from the contact page is credited to the right source. It is cleared when you close the tab.
- An internal staff flag — stored locally so analytics can be skipped for staff browsing the site. That’s an ops convenience, not something visitors need to set.
Fonts and third parties
Fonts on this site are served from our own host, so loading a page doesn’t send requests to Google Fonts or other font services. We don’t use session-replay or screen-recording tools.
Sharing
We share information only as needed to run the site: with our hosting and form provider (Netlify) and with Google Analytics. We don’t sell personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry and related data as long as we need it to respond and run the business. If you’d like something deleted, email us and we’ll take care of what’s reasonably in our control.
Your choices
Email mattygsocialmedia@gmail.com to ask for access, a correction, or deletion of information you’ve shared with us. If you don’t want to share your details, simply don’t use the chat or lead form — browsing the public pages doesn’t require it.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime using the link in any email.
Kids
This site isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from kids.
Changes
We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top.
